15 May, 2004 my family did the Volksmarch in Herschwiler. The published starting hours were much longer than other Volksmarches (until 6 pm). On the 10/20 portion of the trail, just after the control point, there is a nice Flugplatz (airport) with a grass runway and many light aircraft and gliders operating. They are interesting to watch.

The start is at the Christina School on the hill.
Length
They have a 5, 10 and 20 km.
We did the 10 km trail. The elvation change was from 900 feet to 1400 feet, then down and up a few hundred.
Trail Quality
The route we took all were roads. About 2 km were old dirt trails which had high grass growing in the middle. A jogging stroller is okay - with a bit of pushing. There were no steps or difficult inclines. Note - when the 20 km turned off the route, it went down a steep switched back hill - you wouldn't want to use any stroller for this.
